We have pre-arranged tours with several facilities for you to see firsthand, learn from industry leaders and get your questions answered personally. Last year the tour sessions sold out quickly. Spaces are limited and attendees will be eligible to select their tour, based on the order in which they register for the conference.

Please note: Only one tour will be offered per attendee. There is a small additional fee of $30 for each tour which covers the tour and transportation to and from the hotel. There may not be enough spots on the tours for all conference registrants, so hurry and sign up today! Tour hosts reserve the right to approve registrants. Other tour limitations may apply.

Indianapolis’ FedEx Express Hub is the second largest sorting facility in the FedEx network. Nearly 5,000 employees support that facility. You’ll see planes arriving for the “midnight sort”, see the complex and brilliant sorting process, and the teams of people working to get thousands of packages sorted and back on planes to their destination. You’ll be amazed as you see this “sorting city” come to life in the middle of the night, making express delivery magic happen. It is suggested to wear comfortable shoes and clothing and dress for the weather if it is cold out.

OSP GROUP is the preferred brand portfolio of women’s apparel, shoes, lingerie, men’s and home products dedicated to plus size. The primary facility for OSP GROUP is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, close to downtown, and is 750,000 square feet, housing nearly 800 employees. The fulfillment operation is highly automated with nearly nine miles of conveyor, five sortation systems, fully deployed voice technology, automated packaging equipment, and of particular note an automated returns processing center. The facility, which sits within a foreign trade zone, ships over 15 million packages a year and has intensively employed lean processing throughout all functions.

OHL

OHL is one of the world’s largest 3PLs, providing integrated global supply chain management solutions and operates more than 130 value-added distribution centers with offices worldwide. OHL’s Plainfield, IN Campus boasts over 2.6M sq. ft. of warehouse space with 6 facilities. Its facilities are fully operational with aerosol cages, sanitation maintained at food grade standards and temp controlled. The Campus is also easily accessible via 4 major interstate highways and is less than a mile from the Indianapolis International Airport, the 2nd largest FedEx hub in the US.

Each of the Campus’ 6 facilities is supported with a dedicated manager and a “shared labor” environment, utilizing a cross trained workforce with multiple shift operations. This gives OHL’s customers the advantage and flexibility needed to overcome the challenges of peaks season, new product launches or unexpected consumer demand. The Campus serves over 25 customers from various business sectors including retail, food & beverage, consumer packed goods, healthcare, electronics and durables.

Ingram Micro Logistics (IML) offers more than 132 Advanced Logistics Centers (ALCs) strategically located in Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America to provide optimal location and flexibility. IML’s multi-customer or single-client warehousing options provide the flexibility to meet ever changing supply chain needs. Our warehousing experts use technologies, as well as efficient pick-and-pack and case-pick processes, to create the most efficient fulfillment processes. Our state-of-the-art Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) work with our Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to provide transparent logistics services while increasing efficiency. The tour of the Indianapolis ALC will highlight how the operational efficiencies benefit IML’s customers throughout their supply chain.

IDS

Integrated Distribution Services, (IDS), a 50 year-old logistics company, has focused on unit picked programs (direct to consumer, retail replenishment) and related services for the last 15 years. This tour highlights solutions available for small to mid-sized brands and programs that need substantial flexibility for growth and change as well as favorable economics. This tour will show how dozens of e-commerce and similar fulfillment operations can be combined to provide significant advantages for the programs.

With many operational approaches focused on this market, attendees will get an inside look at the specific IDS operational philosophy in action: Focused use of advance technology while introductory level positions are kept as simple as possible, wide parcel mode choices, built-in focus on flexibility, food/cosmetic grade operations, ambient and cold pack shipping, and several “mini-white paper” examples of specific recent client program changes, product launches, and integrations with relevance to those with the entrepreneurial spirit leading (currently) small to mid-size programs.

Product types seen include food, cosmetics, apparel, toys and games, and others. IDS’ capability, flexibility, and proven processes allow customers to leverage IDS’ order fulfillment solutions and non-asset transportation solutions to gain a competitive advantage.

LaCrosse Footwear & Danner

This tour will be led by Nick DiFlora, Director of Distribution, who has vast direct-to-customer experience and was previously with Amazon.com and Cornerstone Brands. This facility serves both the LaCrosse and Danner brands and distributes both BTB and direct-to-customer. It is a very well-planned facility and operation. You’ll see how they manage operations for two brands, and bulk and DTC distribution under one roof.

The facility is 380,000 square feet, 4 years old. (utilizing 290,000). The total units handled exceeds 5 million units annually. Parcel packages are 7-40 lbs. per package, multiple carton up to 400 lbs., 500-1200 packages per day. LTL shipments are 1 – 15 skids.

Inbound receiving includes a telescoping boom for unloading with 22” wide automated conveyance to receiving and sorting area. The locations types are pallet reserve, assigned and non-assigned active locations, pallet and shelf. The storage has 17,000 reserve pallet locations with over 7,000 active location capacity.

The outbound area includes LTL/truck load dock and parcel area, pack stations, a Lantech single pack heat shrink seal machine (eliminates packing in corrugated carton, labor and supply cost reduction), and 300’ of 22” wide automated conveyance with integrated Cubiscan.

Customers include Amazon.com, Gander Mountain, Cabela’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Grainger, Sportsman’s Warehouse, to name a few.
